Position Overview

The PD Product Specialist is responsible to manage the overall product offering for e-commerce, catalog and all other inbound channels.  To achieve this, the PD Product Specialist will build and maintain strong marketing relationships, and work closely with the Product Category Director/Manager, Marketing, Fulfillment and other departments within the company.  The PD Product Specialist is accountable for meeting timelines and objectives for assigned projects, delivering robust quality of work, and driving continuous improvement.

Essential Functions, Duties & Accountabilities

1.    Manage the overall planning, and implementation of assigned product categories for inbound channels

2. Present product and program recommendation

3. Analyze current product, market, business and competitive trends to identify opportunities for business growth

4. Monitor and analyze positive and negative customer response and performance of past programs

5. Collaborate with Marketing on overall product strategy and requirements for assigned categories to serve as a basis for new and breakthrough products

6. Support new product ideation activities and processes to meet needs of inbound marketing channels

7. Coordinate with vendors to utilize their resources as a part of our ideation activities

8. Present "off-the-shelf" products from our vendors to support appropriate inbound channels

9. Provide general support to Program Manager and Category Director

Development of approved programs

  1. Manage all aspects of the development of product programs in line with processes established for approvals and communications.

  2. Define and recommend the full program components and configurations, including product sizes and materials, grading and labels, packaging and included collateral, and set configurations.

  3. Define full costs and recommend pricing, ensuring that programs meet acceptable targets for financial performance.

  4. Be the lead for communication and collaboration on all project details with Marketing, including tightly managing the project timeline, communicating with Marketing on any deviations.

Ensure effective product purchasing, setup and maintenance

  1. Work with Purchasing on the negotiation of the purchase of the product.

  2. Direct the design and purchasing of all product packaging and collateral.

  3. Complete product set-up for use in all appropriate inbound channels.

  4. Monitor inventory levels and recommend and direct plans for re-promoting and/or liquidating remaining product that did not perform to expected levels.

  5. Monitor product consignments to ensure timely product sale and settlement with vendors.

Support Sales and Marketing promotional activities for inbound channels

  1. Write fact sheets and provide any other information necessary to support the marketing and sales efforts.

  2. Review, proof, and edit all promotional copy so as to provide the strongest market positioning, most compelling product representation, and accurate value proposition.

  3. Attend and support Sales new product kicks and other product launches.

Build and maintain mint and vendor partner relationships

  1. Have a working knowledge and monitor activities by our mint partners that are competitive to our business.

  2. Have a working knowledge of mint partner performance through vendor scorecards and other methods.

  3. Communicate internally knowledge on vendor capabilities, performance, and strategies internally to ensure alignment with operational execution.

  4. Seek out new vendors to augment capabilities and ensure an appropriate competitive vendor landscape.

 Support long-term development efforts with major mint partners

Facilitate product development activities of the mints such that it supports our product development, marketing and sales plans, focusing on a 1-4 year outlook, rather than near-term activities

Additional Functions, Duties & Accountabilities

  1. Actively serve as a member of PD Team and support others as necessary.

  2. Maintain flexibility in work schedule to meet business needs.

  3. Actively and positively contribute to the overall success of Asset through regular contributions to the general management of the company.       Participate and provide leadership in inter-departmental meetings, projects and informal activities. Support the company and other departments wherever and whenever your skills and experience would be beneficial.

  5. Ensure the confidentiality and full and complete safeguarding the company's trade secrets and any of our business clients' customer lists and related records.


Educational Requirements

  1. 4-year college degree, equivalent work experience or a demonstrated ability to successfully perform the requirements of the position.

Experience and Skills

  1. At least 2-5 years of experience in program, project or product management, or equivalent experience.

  2. Ability to think creatively and explore outside-the-box opportunities

  3. Strong communication skills, and the ability to build consensus.

  4. Ability to lead and manage in a collaborative, peer environment.

  5. Strong project management and organizational skills.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  2. Ability to manage complex relationships at a corporate level and an individual level.

  3. Ability to utilize both strategy and creativity to guide product development.

  4. Coin knowledge and medal production is a preferred but not necessary.



  1. Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required, approximately 0-5%.
