Position Overview

Provide overall leadership for the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans and execution for direct mail, catalog and print channels for GovMint.com and Modern Coin Mart to achieve sales, growth and test objectives. Monitor and analyze results against plan and provide recommendations for all ongoing initiatives. Oversee database activities to support prospect acquisition, reoffers, and inquiry fulfillment. Develop and maintain analytical forecasting models to estimate future sales outcomes based on planned marketing activities and trends.

Develop plans for the implementation of strategic tests to continually maintain and improve direct mail/catalog and print ad results. Work closely with the Creative team to develop breakthrough new treatments to grow these channels including the use of "on-line" catalogs/website landing pages. Develop plans and budgets for using outside lists and publications to support the sales and growth of the programs. Responsibilities include creating recommendations for overall list strategies, working with list brokers to effectively target key segments, creating robust list tests, creating contact strategies and re-use plans for control lists, negotiating use agreements, and overseeing database activities to support the outside list efforts and well as managing media agencies. Work closely with the internal resources and outside list vendors to develop predictive models to optimize efficiency and sales growth in the direct mail channels.

Lead forecasting efforts and the annual planning process for the channels. To achieve this, the Channel Manager/Senior Manager will work to coordinate the required activities in Product Development, Creative, Sales, Operations and others to deliver the elements necessary for channel project success.  The Manager/Senior Manager will be accountable for meeting individual channel and project metric goals, and driving continuous improvement.

Customer Base and Direct Marketing Knowledge

  1. Develop and maintain an understanding of customer attributes and buying behaviors for all channels
  2. Develop and maintain an understanding of industry best practices for assigned marketing channels, providing insight into potential enhancements and opportunities to optimize cost and effectiveness
  3. Experience in the collectibles or continuity space not required but highly desirable

Project Ideation

  1. Proactively identify and propose marketing, product ideas and concepts
  2. Work to identify and evaluate project opportunities to support overall name growth and profitability objectives, coordinating requirements with other channel owners

Project Development, Execution and Management

  1. Develop and execute channel activities in line with overall direction, working with Product Development, Creative, Sales, Operations and Legal to ensure appropriate testing, rollout and internal communication
  2. Provide ongoing management and oversight of individual projects and overall channel performance, ensuring channel goals are met and identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement
  3. Ensure optimization and efficiency of activities across marketing channels
  4. Work with channel management peers to integrate activities across the channels as appropriate
  5. Operate within established brand standards, proposing modifications to standards if needed to improve effectiveness
  6. Actively pursue ongoing development and improvement in channel execution including extending to the digital space via collaboration with the e-commerce marketing team as needed

Overall Business Management

  1. Establish or support the establishment of annual budget and forecasts by channel in conjunction with Marketing leadership
  2. Ensure achievement of monthly and annual channel and project goals and P&L, instituting corrective actions and exploiting new opportunities to ensure performance at or above budget levels
  3. Ensure the development and execution of appropriate tracking, reporting and analysis at the channel level and project level to enable effective and timely decision making and actions
  4. Identify and exploit opportunities for continuous improvement

Staffing

  1. Supervise and develop a staff of two to three employees, including establishing and documenting goals and objectives and offering feedback

    Educational Requirements

    1. Four year degree in marketing, business or other highly technical area of study
    2. Advanced degree in marketing helpful, MBA preferred

    Experience and Skills

    1. At least four years of direct marketing experience that includes strategic thinking and analytical aptitude, as well as creating, managing and executing multi-channel direct marketing programs with P&L responsibilities
    2. Innovative, solid critical thinker with business-creative capabilities combined with a strong analytical and numbers-orientated approach to metrics
    3. Solid quantitative analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data
    4. Ability to forecast and determine consumer attributes and trends
    5. Proven team building and motivational skills; ability to lead within a highly collaborative environment
    6. Proven leadership ability in an entrepreneurial environment
    7. Ability to manage projects to ensure on-time, on-budget completion
